The author of Chasing Sunset is Jonas Wisser, an aspiring Reality Rat and third-year student at Oberlin College.  His interests, approximately in order of personal importance, are learning about spirituality and the way the world really works, computers, being outside, music, reading (especially SF and fantasy, but pretty much anything well-written), and more other things than he feels like typing.  He values a liberal mindset, for a given value of liberal; his definition includes being accepting of everyone who’s not actively hurting someone else, and believing that everyone should be safe, sheltered, and sated. If you’re wondering about the term “Reality Rat”, it comes from an as-yet-unpublished book by Jonas’s mother, Nancy.  One day you’ll understand.
