Dancing Lessons From God
“Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.” –Cat’s Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut
Tonight, after carrying it for about 11 months, I found the person I was holding the crucifix I bought in Woodstock for. We were talking about spirits and intuition and the way we both know when someone in our family is going to die, and she showed me the Mary pendant on her keychain. In an instant, I knew I’d been carrying the crucifix for her. She was very pleased with it; her old one had broken not too long ago.
I’ve been working on hearing what the world is telling me recently; occurrences like this are one of the upshots to seeing the world around you a little more clearly. I always associate them, though, with the quote from Cat’s Cradle that tops this post. Another funny thing- a week or two ago when I checked Wowio for Vonnegut books, there was nothing. Tonight, of course, when I wanted to verify the quotation, they have several books by him, including Cat’s Cradle. Now that I have a copy in my possession, and have skimmed through it to find the quote, I can’t help but think that me coming to own a copy of Cat’s Cradle was one of the major points of tonight.
I really do love my life.
